Rate limits & tiers

Per-minute limits and monthly call caps by tier — Free, Developer, Business, and Scale.

The Bill Radar API enforces a per-client, per-minute rate limit so the service stays fast for everyone, plus a monthly call cap. Both are tied to your API key's tier.

Limits by tier

Free — 60 requests/min, 1,000 calls/month. Bills + sponsors.
Developer — 120 requests/min, 100,000 calls/month. Full bill + regulation data.
Business — 300 requests/min, 1,000,000 calls/month. Adds webhooks + bulk export.
Scale — 600 requests/min, custom monthly volume, with an SLA and priority support. A custom quote.

How it works

Requests are counted in a sliding one-minute window. Stay under your limit and you'll never notice it.

When you're throttled

Exceed the per-minute limit and you'll get 429 Too Many Requests with a Retry-After header telling you how many seconds to wait:

Staying within limits

Cache responses you re-use, prefer webhooks over tight polling loops, and back off when you see a 429. Need more headroom? Talk to us about an upgraded tier.
