Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Bill HB 4949 changes the date of establishment for sport shooting ranges from July 5, 1994, to allowing any range that existed as of the effective date of this law to continue operating. This is significant because it broadens the scope of which shooting ranges can maintain their operations, even if they do not meet local government ordinances, as long as they follow accepted safety practices. This change aims to provide more flexibility for existing ranges to operate without the threat of being shut down due to local regulations.
