Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill SB 324 shifts the enforcement of water pollution violations in the Lake Tahoe Watershed from the Attorney General to local health boards or departments. Now, the local health authority can issue a warning for the first violation and impose fines for subsequent violations, ranging from $100 to $500. This change matters because it allows local authorities to respond more directly and effectively to violations, ensuring better protection of the Lake Tahoe environment.
