The recent amendments to Assembly Bill No. 361 focus on improving safety for transit operators in larger counties, like Clark and Washoe. The changes require regional transportation commissions in these counties to take specific actions, such as installing safety technology and signage that informs the public about the penalties for crimes committed against transit workers. This matters because it aims to enhance the safety and well-being of those who provide public transportation services, ultimately leading to a more secure transit environment for both operators and riders.
