Plain-language change summary

The revised version of SB 5124 changes the terminology from "nursing homes" to "skilled nursing facilities," and it shortens the deadline for developing network adequacy standards from January 1, 2028, to June 30, 2026. Additionally, it emphasizes the inclusion of skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in the standard-setting process, ensuring that any developed standards consider the need for care to be local to the community. These changes aim to improve access to necessary care and ensure that it is appropriately tailored to local needs, which can significantly affect patient outcomes and community health resources.
