Plain-language change summary

The amended version of SB 5356 now emphasizes the importance of training for Title IX investigators and victim advocates across all educational settings, rather than only at institutions of higher education. This update highlights a broader application of trauma-informed practices and techniques for handling sexual assault cases, making the training accessible to a wider audience involved in these sensitive investigations. This change is significant because it expands the scope of protective measures and support for victims of sexual violence, potentially leading to better outcomes as various professionals can apply the learned approaches. Additionally, the amendment maintains a clear deadline for implementation, aiming for the training to take effect by July 1, 2026.
