The recent amendment to Senate Bill 5773 replaces the reference to the public works small business certification program with a focus on the small business enforceable goals program as outlined in federal regulations. This change emphasizes a stronger commitment to monitoring and supporting small businesses through established federal guidelines, potentially leading to better equity in public contracting. The shift matters because it aims to enhance opportunities for small businesses, ensuring they can compete fairly for public contracts.
