The recent changes to Bill HB 1587 include the removal of a specific limit on state matching funds for local government partner scholarship programs, which was previously set at $300,000 per fiscal year. This adjustment allows for more flexibility in funding, potentially increasing the financial support available to students. Additionally, the general structure and requirements for higher education institutions participating in the opportunity scholarship program have been maintained, ensuring they continue to verify eligibility information and report outcomes for scholarship recipients. These modifications aim to improve the effectiveness and reach of scholarship programs in Washington State.
