The updated version of SB 5170 now specifies that the Department of Natural Resources must notify affected landowners only for land surveys on public lands, excluding aquatic lands. This change aims to streamline the notification process and focus on land types relevant to boundary disputes, which helps clarify which landowners will be involved in discussions about boundary changes. Additionally, it maintains the requirement for public comment and historical evidence presentation, ensuring that affected parties still have a voice in the process.
