The revised version of SB 6058 allows the department to prioritize wage complaints based on various factors, such as the potential harm to the employee and the risk of retaliation. This means that more pressing cases could be addressed sooner. Additionally, the bill clarifies that while the department has 60 days to respond to a complaint, it can extend this time frame with notification, ensuring both employees and employers are informed. These changes are important because they aim to streamline the investigation process and enhance transparency regarding how wage complaints are handled.
