The recent amendments to Bill SB 5433 remove a reference to marine department employees within the department of corrections, clarifying that the provisions only apply to those with interest arbitration rights under RCW 41.80.200. This change is significant as it streamlines the focus of the bill on corrections employees, ensuring that negotiations for their collective bargaining agreements remain centralized. This simplification could enhance the efficiency of how compensation and benefits agreements are handled for these specific employees.
