The recent changes to SB 5494 involve an update to how funds are managed in the lead paint account, specifically stating that all fees collected must be deposited into this account. Additionally, the bill now clearly stipulates that the Department of Commerce cannot impose penalties if the Environmental Protection Agency has already addressed the same violation. These updates are significant because they ensure that resources related to lead paint management are efficiently utilized and prevent duplicate penalties, promoting better cooperation between state and federal agencies.
