The updated version of Bill SB 197 now mandates that starting in fiscal year 2028, the State Tax Commission must annually allocate a portion of the revenue from state sales and use taxes to the Transit Transportation Investment Fund. This change is significant because it aims to secure funding for transportation projects, supporting better public transit options in the state. Additionally, the bill makes some technical adjustments to existing legislative language for clarity. Overall, this amendment could help improve transportation infrastructure and services in the future.
