Plain-language change summary

The recent changes in Bill SB 62 focus on adjusting how funding is allocated for teacher and classroom salary support. Instead of modifying a formula based on student count growth, the bill now directly alters the flexible allocation to better support teachers’ salaries. This matters because it aims to address the financial needs of educators more effectively, potentially improving salary support for teachers and enhancing the overall quality of education.

How this bill changes current law

2 changes Share ↗

Compared against the Utah Code as published AI-generated reading aid — verify against the official bill.

The bill replaces the term 'flexible allocation' with 'teacher and classroom salary support' in two sections, clarifying existing appropriations.

  • Utah Code § 53F-2-208

    the [flexible allocation] teacher and classroom salary support, described in Section 53F-2-421; → the teacher and classroom salary support, described in Section 53F-2-421;

    This change removes the term 'flexible allocation' and specifies it as 'teacher and classroom salary support'.

  • Utah Code § 53F-2-421

    in the MSP [flexible allocation] teacher and classroom salary support → in the MSP teacher and classroom salary support

    This change clarifies that the salary support is no longer referred to as a 'flexible allocation'.
