The updated version of Bill SB 310 now explicitly allows individuals to file civil lawsuits if someone discloses their intimate images without permission. This change is important because it gives victims a legal path to seek justice and can potentially deter unauthorized sharing of sensitive content. Additionally, there are established exceptions where individuals won't be liable if the disclosure was made in good faith under certain circumstances, such as law enforcement or legal proceedings, which helps balance the interests of privacy and public good.
