What changed in the latest version

The updated version of Bill SB 147 now establishes the Office of Inspector General of Medicaid Services as part of the Department of Government Operations, rather than as an independent entity. This means the office will need to submit its budget to the department and will be subject to oversight measures including performance evaluations and concern reporting processes. Additionally, the inspector general will need to provide annual reports to legislative committees. These changes are significant because they enhance oversight and accountability, ensuring that Medicaid services operate effectively and transparently.
