The bill SB 694 has been updated to require that the county superintendent must live within the county they oversee, rather than allowing residency in a neighboring county. Additionally, the bill establishes that the county board can prevent the superintendent from working remotely, except in certain situations. These changes aim to ensure that superintendents are closely connected to the communities they serve, potentially improving oversight and accountability in local education.
