Plain-language change summary

The proposed amendment to Bill SB 640 changes how campaign contributor information is handled by prohibiting the release of contributors’ addresses and employer details, as well as the addresses of treasurers. This is significant because it aims to protect the privacy of individuals involved in political contributions, which could encourage more participation in local elections without fear of harassment or backlash. Additionally, the amendment introduces penalties for failing to comply with these privacy requirements, reinforcing the importance of safeguarding sensitive information.
