What changed in the latest version
242 added · 213 removedPlain-language change summary
The bill has changed the terminology from "communication impairment designation" to "communication impairment BARRIER designation." This change clarifies the specific type of impairment being addressed. Additionally, the revised language now requires a sworn statement from a medical professional that clearly identifies both the individual and the nature of their communication impairment BARRIER, which may enhance clarity and support for those seeking the designation. These adjustments are important as they aim to create a more accurate framework for individuals with communication challenges to communicate their needs effectively, especially in interactions with law enforcement.
