Plain-language change summary

The updated version of HB 1062 introduces a streamlined process for municipalities to issue a "Certificate of Compliance" to property owners once their real estate is brought back into code compliance. This is significant because it formalizes a mechanism for property owners to officially update their property status to "cured" on the registry, which can help attract potential buyers or tenants by showing that the property is up to code. Moreover, the bill now stipulates that any related information will be removed from the official record after the property maintains this "cured" status for two years, ensuring that past compliance issues don't linger on the property’s record indefinitely.
