Plain-language change summary

The amendments made to Bill HB 1558 introduce a requirement for individuals found guilty of criminal vehicular homicide to pay restitution to the minor children of their deceased victims until those children reach the age of 18. This means that, if the victim was a parent or legal guardian of a child, the court can order monthly payments to support the children. This change is significant because it ensures that the financial impact of such crimes on families is acknowledged and addressed, providing some measure of support to affected children during their formative years.
