The recent amendment to SB 2305 clarifies responsibilities regarding the family paid caregiver service pilot project. The department will now specifically manage and operate this project, ensuring that payments are made to family caregivers who provide extraordinary care to eligible Medicaid participants. Additionally, the wording was adjusted to emphasize that funding must include extra care necessary to maintain the individual's health and well-being, reducing their risk of institutionalization. These changes are important as they aim to provide better support for families caring for individuals with significant medical or behavioral needs.
