Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to HB 1549 removed references to a "Native American re-entry program" and reduced the number of new sections related to the criminal justice data collection from three to two. These changes may streamline the focus of the bill on establishing a correctional facility grant program and a housing task force while ensuring the criteria for evaluating existing programs are clearly set. This matters because it simplifies the legislative framework and concentrates resources on specific initiatives, which could enhance the effectiveness of re-entry programs and housing support for offenders.
