The recent amendment to Senate Bill No. 2387 clarifies and confirms the rights of sexual violence survivors, specifically ensuring they can consult with a victim advocate during forensic medical examinations. Importantly, it establishes that communications between the survivor and the advocate are confidential unless the survivor chooses to waive that right. This change emphasizes the protection and support for survivors, aiming to make the process less traumatic and more supportive.
