Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Bill HB 1382 include changes focused on funding for road infrastructure in non-oil-producing counties and how tax revenue is allocated. Specifically, one-third of the funding will now be directed to non-oil-producing counties for townships to improve roads and bridges, rather than being allocated to a specific township highway aid fund previously mentioned. Additionally, the tax on motor vehicle fuel has been increased from 23 cents to 26 cents per gallon to help support these infrastructure improvements. These changes matter as they aim to provide better transportation options in areas that may not benefit from the oil industry, ensuring more equitable infrastructure funding.
