The updated version of HB 1318 extends the work of the committee studying non-drug treatments for chronic pain, allowing it to continue until 2028 instead of 2025. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of finding new payment methods to support innovative care approaches, based on findings from previous meetings. This matters because it highlights a growing recognition of non-pharmacological treatments, which could lead to more effective pain management strategies for patients without relying solely on medications.
