The recently passed bill HB 5110 lowered the age requirement for educational benefits from 65 to 60 years old for resident students in West Virginia. This change allows more older adults to access these benefits, potentially encouraging lifelong learning and participation in higher education. Additionally, it ensures that the differential tuition for qualified non-resident students does not exceed 50% of what resident students pay, making it more affordable for non-residents to study in West Virginia. Overall, these amendments aim to make education more accessible for older individuals and manage tuition costs more effectively.
