The updated version of HB 4869 clarifies the eligibility criteria for individuals seeking to enroll in Medicare supplement policies. It ensures that those who have had continuous coverage can obtain a new policy from the same insurer or an affiliated one, as long as it offers the same or fewer benefits. Additionally, it includes a provision that allows individuals to purchase a policy from any authorized insurer if their current insurer hasn’t accepted new applicants for 12 months. These changes are important because they broaden access to necessary coverage for seniors, providing them with more options for their healthcare needs.
