The updated version of Bill HB 485 removes the specific short title "Shawnya's Law" and the definition of "marriage fraud." It focuses instead on clarifying and revising the requirements for petitions against domestic violence, particularly regarding the involvement of the State Board of Immigration Enforcement. This change is important because it streamlines the process and emphasizes prompt communication between the courts and immigration authorities, potentially making it easier for individuals experiencing domestic violence to seek help.
