The changes in HB 1086 have shifted the focus from outright prohibiting the sale of certain agricultural seeds treated with neonicotinoids to creating a committee that will study the effects of these seed treatments. This committee will analyze data from Quebec and Cornell University to better understand the implications of banning such seeds, including impacts on crop yields, costs, and environmental factors. This amendment is significant because it allows for a more informed discussion on the issue rather than jumping to a ban, which could have various economic and agricultural repercussions.
