Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Bill HB 1066 updated the threshold for public hearings on leases, increasing it from $100,000 to $500,000. This change means that fewer leases will require public hearings, streamlining processes for municipalities when entering into larger contracts. Additionally, the amendment clarifies the definition of a "lease" to align with existing financial regulations. These adjustments could simplify municipal financing decisions while still ensuring accountability in significant expenditures.
