The final version of Bill SB 615 establishes a commission to study how the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is used and regulated in New Hampshire. This replaces earlier proposals that aimed to tighten restrictions on SNAP, such as banning the purchase of candy and soft drinks with benefits and strengthening work requirements for eligibility. This change matters because it shifts the focus from enforcing stricter regulations to gathering insights and input from various stakeholders about SNAP, potentially leading to a more informed and balanced approach to the program.
