The amendments to Bill SB 527 allow state agencies to use various written forms of communication, including electronic mail, instead of being restricted to first-class mail for notifying municipalities about permits, licenses, or actions affecting them. This change ensures that communication is more efficient and timely, particularly for municipalities that may prefer receiving updates digitally. It also requires agencies to maintain up-to-date contact lists for town and city clerks, improving the overall notification process. This matters because it enhances local governments' ability to participate in decisions that impact their communities, ensuring they have a voice in important matters.
