The recent amendments to Bill LB 195 focus on enhancing protections for those involved in administering opioid overdose reversal medication, such as naloxone. The changes clarify that not only health professionals but also family members, friends, and even school personnel can help someone experiencing an overdose without facing legal repercussions. This matters because it encourages more people to intervene in overdose situations, potentially saving lives by making it easier and safer for bystanders to provide immediate assistance.
