The recent amendment to Bill HB 2139 removed specific references to "Shari'a law" while expanding the prohibition of foreign legal systems to all foreign laws that could infringe on rights guaranteed by U.S. and Missouri constitutions. This change broadens the scope of the bill to prevent any foreign law from being applied, rather than targeting just Shari'a. It matters because this broader approach applies to more potential legal scenarios, impacting various contracts and court decisions that could involve foreign legal systems.
