The recent changes to Bill HB 3256 added clarity to which retail establishments must accept U.S. currency, including specific events like sports and concerts. Notably, the bill now explicitly states that online transactions and those involving self-service gas pumps do not require cash acceptance. This matters because it protects consumers who prefer using cash in physical stores while recognizing modern transaction practices that may not involve cash. This shift aims to balance cash acceptance with the realities of how people shop today.
