Plain-language change summary

The latest version of Bill HB 2186 has made some important changes regarding the definition and applicability of accessory dwelling units (ADUs). The term "residential building" has replaced "single-family dwelling," broadening the scope to allow various types of residential structures to have ADUs. Additionally, some lines were removed to streamline the language and clarify that the units must provide complete independent living facilities. These updates help make it easier for homeowners to consider adding ADUs, which can increase housing options and promote more sustainable living arrangements in communities.
