Requires the office of motor vehicles to displayan image of an eagle to signify United States citizenship status on all driver's licenses and special identification cards.
Presentlaw(R.S.32:410andR.S.40:1321)outlinestherequiredinformationtobeincluded on driver's licenses and special identification cards issued by the office of motor vehicles (OMV).
Specifies that the required information include the individual's name, address, photograph, physical description, and other identifying information.
Proposed law retains present law and requires the OMV include an image of an eagle in flighttosignifyU.S.citizenshipstatusonalldriver'slicensesandspecialidentificationcards issued, provided an applicant's citizenship has been verified.
Further requires the OMV promulgate rules inaccordancewith theAdministrativeProcedureActin implementing the design, placement, and documentation requirements for verifying citizenship status.
Additionally, requires that any future upgrades or new card implementations by the OMV accommodate new credentials on driver's licenses and special identification cards if the current system is unable to do so.
