Provides relative to the membership of the Louisiana State Board of Home Inspectors.
Present law provides for the La.
State Bd.
of Home Inspectors.
Present law provides that the board shall be composed of one member from each congressional district and one at-large member appointed by the governor from a list of names submitted by the board of directors of the La.
Chapter of the American Society of Home Inspectors, the La.
Realtors Association, and the La.
Home Builders Association.
Proposed law amends present law to provide that names of qualified candidates may be submittedtothegovernorbyactivelicensedLa.homeinspectorsresidingwithinthedistrict of the board vacancy.
Proposed law provides for the qualifications of both the candidates for the board and the licensees submitting names of candidates, and retains provisions of present law regarding citizenship and home inspection qualifications.
Present law provides that one member of the board shall be appointed for a two-year term, three members for four-year terms, and three members for six-year terms.
Present law also provides that no person shall be appointed for more than one full six-year term and that on and after Aug.
1, 2017, all members shall be appointed for four years.
Proposed law repeals present law and provides that each member of the board shall be appointed for a term of four years and may serve two four-year terms, consecutive or nonconsecutive, but retains present law regarding a vacancy caused by death, resignation, or disability of a member.
Present law provides that on and after Aug.
1, 2017, the board member from the Third CongressionalDistrictwhowasappointedtotheboardonJuly27,2012,isdesignatedasthe at-large member.
Any vacancy of the at-large member caused by death, resignation, or disability shall be filled for the unexpired term by appointment by the governor.
