Plain-language change summary

The recently amended HB 593 has removed specific language regarding increasing service and transaction fees for local offices of motor vehicles. Instead, it clarifies that fees can only cover certain costs like facility rental and maintenance without impacting offices in Shreveport. This change matters because it ensures that some local offices, particularly in Shreveport, won't have to charge fees, potentially maintaining better access to services for residents there. Meanwhile, the maximum fee limits for other localities have been adjusted, allowing for additional funding to support less-funded offices.
