Present law (R.S.
47:532.1(C) authorizes public license tag agents to collect a convenience charge in addition to the registration license tax or other authorized fees, sales taxes, and transactions.
Further requires that the convenience charge not exceed $23 per authorized transaction.
Additionally requires the public license tag agents collect and retain the full amountoftheconveniencechargeandauthorizesthesellertocollecttheconveniencecharge authorized by present law in connection with any retail sale, in addition to the fees authorized in present law.
Proposed law increases the maximum convenience charge in present law from $23 to $27.
