Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill SB 274 introduces a requirement for risk assessments specifically for nonpublic elementary schools and child-occupied facilities that opened after August 1, 2012. This amendment clarifies the responsibilities of facility operators to document any inspections or lead abatement efforts and mandates that lead hazards are assessed before the facility can open. This change is important because it aims to ensure a safer environment for children by addressing potential lead exposure risks more thoroughly.
