Proposed law retains present law.
Present law provides for insurance coverage for prostate cancer screeningfor men over 40 years of age when it is medically necessary and appropriate.
Proposed law changes this provision to provide for coverage in accordance with guidelines from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and clarifies that it covers men between 40 and 49 years of age.
Present law prohibits a health coverage plan from charging a deductible for any cancer screening service provided for in present law.
Proposedlawexpandspresentlawtoprohibitahealthcoverageplanfromcharginganycost- sharing amount for the services.
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
