The recent amendments to Bill HB 1011 clarify procedures for jurors to donate their per diem compensation to the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) organization. Key changes specify that the option to donate will be presented only once during juror orientation, ensuring that jurors give informed consent. Additionally, the bill outlines that the court will establish procedures for collecting and distributing these donations to CASA, making the process more organized. This matters because it increases the support for CASA, a nonprofit that advocates for children in the court system, while ensuring that jurors have clear information and a straightforward method to contribute.
