WHEREAS,WorldDownSyndromeDayisobservedannually,onMarch21,toraise awarenessandcelebratethelivesandachievementsofindividuals with Downsyndrome,as promoted by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS);
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION To designate Saturday, March 21, 2026, as World Down Syndrome Day at the Louisiana StateCapitolandcommendtheeffortsoftheDownSyndromeAwarenessGroupand the various Buddy Walks occurring throughout the state.
and WHEREAS, Down syndrome is a genetic condition that occurs when an individual has a full orpartial extra copyof chromosome 21, thus the significanceof holding the event on March 21, and said genetic condition can lead to developmental delays and intellectual disabilities;
WHEREAS,WorldDownSyndromeDayisobservedannually,onMarch21,toraise awarenessandcelebratethelivesandachievementsof individuals with Downsyndrome,as promoted by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS);
