Specifiestherequirementsforsheriffsanddeputysheriffswhoretireandbecome eligible for payment of group insurance premium costs from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office.
Present law provides that 100% of the premium costs of group hospital, surgical, and medical expense and the first $10,000 of life insurance contracted for under the provisions of present lawshallbepaidin full bythe sheriff of DeSoto Parish, from the sheriff's general fund,forallsheriffsanddeputysheriffsretiredfromtheDeSotoParishSheriff's Officewho were hired on or after Jan.
1, 2009, who are entitled to receive benefits from the Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund, have at least 30 years of service with the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office.
Presentlawprovidesthat75%ofthepremiumcostsofgrouphospital,surgical,andmedical expenseandthefirst$10,000oflifeinsurancecontractedforundertheprovisionsofpresent law shall be paid in full by the sheriff of DeSoto Parish, from the sheriff's general fund, for all sheriffs and deputy sheriffs retired from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office who were hired on orafterJan.1, 2009, who areentitled to receivebenefits from the Sheriff's Pension andReliefFundandhaveatleast25yearsofservicewiththeDeSotoParishSheriff'sOffice.
Present law furtherprovides that 50% of the premium costs shall bepaidfor all sheriffs and deputysheriffswhohaveatleast20yearsofservicewiththeDeSotoParishSheriff'sOffice.
