Plain-language change summary

The latest version of Bill HB 205 now allows the secretary of state to pay election commissioners a supplemental payment of $100 for each election day they work or assist, instead of the parish governing authority having the authority to do so. This change matters as it centralizes the payment responsibility to the state level, potentially simplifying funding and ensuring consistent compensation for election workers across the state. The bill will take effect on January 1, 2027.
