Plain-language change summary

The amendment to HB 704 involves shifting the focus from multiple programs to exclusively funding the retired senior volunteer program (RSVP). Specifically, the new version appropriates $180,000 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027, to the department of health and human services solely for RSVP, while previous funding for other programs, such as caregiver respite and the foster grandparent program, has been removed. This change means that funds will be directed only to RSVP, affecting how volunteer services for seniors are supported financially. Additionally, the funding is now contingent upon broader financial conditions being met for the state.
