The recent revision to Bill HB 5577 includes a significant change in the pricing structure for the land being conveyed to the town of Somers. Instead of requiring the town to pay the fair market value based on appraisals, the town will now only need to cover the administrative costs of the transfer. This shift could make it more affordable for Somers to acquire the land for public safety purposes, which is crucial for local development and community services.

Additionally, the bill adds a requirement that the asset would revert to state control if the recipient does not use the land for specified purposes, which results in a potential loss of asset to the town of Somers and potential gain of asset for the state.
