Plain-language change summary

The bill SB 439 has been amended to clarify the rules surrounding electronic surveillance in employee lounges. It now explicitly states that while employers cannot monitor employees in areas designated for their personal comfort, a third-party vendor may use surveillance in self-service kiosks as long as it does not record sound and only captures the checkout area. This change is important because it balances employee privacy with the operational needs of businesses, allowing for security measures in specific areas without infringing on personal spaces.
